Honors College

Academic Excellence and Intellectual Community

The Honors College at Ave Maria University provides exceptionally talented and highly motivated students with a challenging and rigorous curriculum designed to further encourage the pursuit of truth and personal excellence.

Admission is selective. Students who meet the basic academic criteria are not automatically admitted but must apply through a competitive process.

Program Requirements

To complete the Honors College and graduate with "Honors in the Liberal Arts," students must:

Complete at least 8 Honors courses

At least 3 in the freshman year, 2 in the sophomore year, and 3 additional Honors or approved upper-level courses in the junior and senior years

Maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPA

And earn at least a B in every Honors course

Attend Honors Colloquia

Participate in at least 3 per year (fall and spring semesters)

Complete a senior thesis

Write and publicly defend an Honors thesis in the senior year
